You told us……..We listened
You found it hard to get through on the phone during peak periods.
You found it difficult to plan ahead for an appointment.
You found it hard to make an appointment of your choice at a time and place that suited you.
In response we have created a telephone service to create a more efficient appointment system to provide you with a range of appointment options.
The service is designed to help you get the appointment you need, when you need it.
When you call to book an appointment, you will now be offered the choice of booking a telephone consultation with a GP.
How does a telephone consultation service help patients?
It’s more convenient for you.
It avoids frustration with engaged phone-lines as it eliminates the urgency to call first thing in the morning to obtain an appointment.
It cuts down on waiting times at the surgery.
It allows you to plan ahead for when you would like an appointment.
It gives you access to a GP on the same day when you need it most.
It saves you a trip to the surgery when you may just need advice.
It allows you to discuss the results of tests on the phone rather than coming in to the surgery.
It allows you to discuss your medication over the phone
It allows for some or your regular reviews to be done over the phone rather than having to come in.
It improves access for you if you don’t have your own means of transport, if you have a physical or psychological difficulty that makes a trip to the surgery difficult, or if you are at work or have dependants
How to book a telephone consultation
Telephone consultations can be booked for urgent and non-urgent problems and can pre-booked up to ONE week in advance or on the same day.
To book a slot, simply ring the surgery at any convenient time.
Please note:
We may record, store, monitor and use any email, telephone or other communication with you for our training purposes, crime prevention, and to improve the quality of our services.
